First and foremost, let it be known that we want to read your work (or look it at in awe, if you’re an artist). Once we read it (or look at it in awe), we may want to publish it. Below are some guidelines that will help you get on our good side. No mail via snail.
Prose
> 3,000 words
maximum (that should be more than enough)
> Send up to three flashes at a time in a single file (they should be your best flashes)
> Do not submit
previously published work (it just looks kind of bad)
Poetry
> Send up to five
poems at a time in a single file (they should be your best poems)
Art
> We do not know
much about art (send us anything you make)
> Upload your
loveliest art as a JPG or GIF file (we like these formats)
Biography
> Please include a short paragraph about yourself (the world wants it)
> Also include a link to your Web site (make sure we have the URL, cuz we won’t look it up)
> We’ll publish your e-mail address, too (unless you ask us not to)
Response Time
> We respond to submissions sorta, kinda fast (give us sixty days, though)
Rights
> Unfortunately, there is no payment at this time (we wish we could pay you)
> If your work is accepted, it is subject to minor editing and copyrighted upon publication, plus
you automatically grant us First Serial Rights to publish it first and Electronic Archival Rights to archive it online (for-ev-er)
> Rights revert back to the author upon publication (they really do)
> If a piece of yours is reprinted, please mention it appeared in decomP first (it’s nice)
Simultaneous Submissions
> These are fine as long as you notify us when another market accepts your work (we simultaneously submit, too)
> If another market accepts one of your flashes/poems, please e-mail us rather than withdrawing the whole submission in Submittable (we like turtles)
What We Don’t Want
> Genre fiction (horror, erotica, romance, sci-fi, etc.)
> Miscellany (interviews, letters, lists, reviews, etc.)
Submit to decomP
decomP welcomes new books for possible review.
What We’re Looking For
> Books/Chapbooks published during the current calendar year (that’d be 2013)
> Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, anthologies (no genre fiction)
> Press release (unnecessary, but encouraged)
> We’ll consider e-books, but only if they don’t appear in print whatsoever (our reviewer prefers to read books offline)
What We’ll Do
> Enter the books into our review queue so readers can see which books are in line and which the reviewer has signed up to review (check it out)
> Certain reviews will be published in the monthly issues, while others will be published on the blog (it’s up to us)
Where to Send Them

A Few Things
> Please don’t contact us by e-mail about this unless you have to (just send stuff)
> Do not send regular submissions, bombs, or sharp objects to the address above (don’t do it)
> Reviews aren’t guaranteed (it’s a crapshoot, in other words)
> We won’t return a book to the author/publisher, even if it remains unclaimed in our queue for a long time (the books become decomP propertY)
> Books from the previous calendar year will eventually be removed if no one signs up to review them (we still like turtles)
